Middle School Math Curriculum
6th grade A: We will cover units from the McDougal Littell Middle School series, course 1. Our main focus will be on number sense, measurement and statistics, decimal addition and subtraction, decimal multiplication and division, number patterns and fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions, multiplication and division of fractions, ratio, proportion, and percent, geometric figures, geometry and measurement, integers, equations and functions, and probability and statistics. Students will have a combination of book assignments, projects, participation grades, quizzes, and tests.
Grading: Homework 30%, Participation 10%, Quizzes 20%, Test/Projects 40%
6th grade B & 7th grade A: We will cover units from the McDougal Littell Middle School series, course 2. Our main focus will be on number sense, decimal operations, data and statistics, number patterns, fractions, integers, equations, inequalities, functions, ratios, proportions, percents, geometry, measurement, area, surface area, volume, probability, and problem solving. Students will have a combination of book assignments, projects, participation grades, quizzes, and tests.

7th grade B & 8th grade A: We will cover units from the McDougal Littell Middle School series, course 3. Our main focus will be on variables and equations; integer operations; solving equations and inequalities; factors, fractions, and exponents; rational number operations; ratios, proportions, and percents; polygons and transformations; real numbers and right triangles; measurement, area, and volume; linear equations and graphs; data analysis and probability; polynomials and functions; and problem solving. Students will have a combination of book assignments, projects, participation grades, quizzes, and tests.
Grading: Homework 30%, Participation 10%, Quizzes 20%, Test/Projects 40%
8th grade B: This class is the equivalent to Kimberly High school Math 1 class. Most students who take this class will be able to take Math 2 as a freshmen. Students who attend St. Mary's Central and Xavier will most likely be able to skip Algebra 1 and take Geometry as a freshmen. In this class students will work in groups, explore and learn: Patterns of Change, Patterns in Data, Linear Functions, Exponential Functions, Functions/Equations/and Systems, Patterns in Shape, and Patterns in Chance.
Grading: Quizzes & Tests 65%, Homework 15 %, Binder Organization 15 %, Group Work 5%
